Bassnectar

Bassnectar is the stage name of Lorin Ashton, an American DJ and electronic music producer born in 1978. He emerged from the California bass and dance scene, releasing music through his own label, Amorphous Music, and became known for a genre-blurring style that fuses heavy, bass-driven grooves with elements of dubstep, breakbeat and rock. He has cited a wide range of influences, from Metallica and Run-D.M.C. to Nirvana, and has spoken about early experiences with powerful low-end sound shaping his musical sensibility.

Over a career spanning more than two decades, Bassnectar released upwards of twenty albums and EPs, building a large and devoted festival following through relentless touring and an immersive, bass-heavy live show. His productions range from aggressive, festival-oriented tracks to more melodic and atmospheric material, reflecting an eclectic approach that resists easy genre labels.

Beyond his own releases, he became a sought-after remixer, reworking tracks by artists such as Ellie Goulding and The Glitch Mob, which broadened his reach beyond the core bass music scene. Bassnectar is regarded as one of the pivotal figures in shaping the modern American bass music and festival circuit, helping bring underground electronic sounds to mainstream audiences.
