About the artist
Barbara Pravi is a French singer-songwriter born in 1993 in Paris, raised in the Montmartre district with Serbian and Iranian roots on her family side. She trained as an actress before turning fully to music, and grew up steeped in the French chanson tradition of Barbara, Jacques Brel and Dalida, whose theatrical phrasing and emotional directness shaped her own style. She signed with Capitol Music France in 2015 and spent several years writing for herself and other artists before releasing her debut material.
Pravi became internationally known in 2021 when she represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with «Voilà», a piano-driven, confessional ballad that finished second and became one of the most streamed Eurovision entries in years. The song showcased her core strengths: raw, theatrical vocal delivery, French lyrics built around vulnerability and self-exposure, and arrangements that lean on strings and piano rather than electronic production.
Her output blends pop songwriting with R&B-inflected phrasing and cabaret-style drama, placing her alongside a generation of French artists reviving chanson for modern audiences. Beyond «Voilà», tracks like «Louis» and «Exister» continue her focus on intimate, narrative songwriting, and she has remained active as both performer and writer within the French pop scene.
