About the artist
Bang Chan, born Christopher Bang on October 3, 1997, in Sydney, Australia, is the leader of the K-pop group Stray Kids, formed under JYP Entertainment. Raised in Sydney, he moved to South Korea after passing an overseas audition and trained for years before debuting, becoming fluent in Korean, English, and Japanese along the way. Within Stray Kids he functions as vocalist, rapper, dancer, and — most distinctively — as one of the group's primary producers.
Chan's production work runs through 3RACHA, the songwriting and production unit he formed with fellow members Changbin and Han before Stray Kids' debut, originally active as an independent project posting music on SoundCloud under names including CB97. That unit evolved into the creative engine behind much of Stray Kids' discography, giving Chan writing and producing credits across the group's singles and albums rather than the purely performative role typical of many idol leaders.
As a leader who also shapes the group's sound from behind the boards, Bang Chan occupies an unusual position in K-pop, straddling idol performance and hands-on music production. His multilingual background and Sydney upbringing have also made him a notable bridge between Stray Kids' Korean identity and its international fanbase, and his voice and production fingerprints are consistently identifiable across the group's catalog.
