About the artist
Backstreet Boys are an American vocal group formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1993, consisting of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell. Emerging alongside the late-1990s boy band explosion, they became global superstars through tightly produced pop and R&B-influenced songs built around layered harmonies, and songs like «Everybody (Backstreet's Back)» and «Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)» established them internationally before their US breakthrough.
Their sound reached a creative peak on Millennium, produced largely with Swedish hitmaker Max Martin, which yielded «I Want It That Way» and «Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely» and cemented their status as one of the defining pop acts of the era. Subsequent albums such as Black & Blue continued to blend dance-pop energy with ballads showcasing the group's vocal blend, even as member changes and hiatuses tested the group's longevity.
Decades after their debut, Backstreet Boys remain one of the best-selling boy bands in music history, later reuniting for a Las Vegas residency and, in 2011, joining forces with New Kids on the Block for the NKOTBSB collaboration. Their catalog remains a touchstone of late-1990s and early-2000s pop.
