Audrey Assad

Audrey Assad is an American singer-songwriter who emerged from the contemporary Christian music (CCM) scene with her 2010 debut album «The House You're Building», released on Sparrow Records. The record was well received within Christian music circles and established her reputation for introspective, melodically rich songwriting rooted in liturgical and hymn traditions rather than typical worship-radio formulas.

Over the following decade she toured and collaborated with a range of prominent CCM artists, including Chris Tomlin, Matt Maher, Tenth Avenue North, and Jars of Clay, while continuing to release solo albums that leaned increasingly into hymn reinterpretation, sparse arrangements, and themes drawn from her Catholic faith. Her music blends pop, rock, and electronic textures with a devotional core, giving songs like «I Shall Not Want» and «Winter Snow» lasting popularity among Christian audiences.

In late 2021, Assad publicly announced that she no longer identified as Christian, a significant shift after more than two decades of music explicitly tied to her Catholic faith.
