Astrid S, born Astrid Smeplass in 1996 in the small village of Berkåk in Rennebu, Norway, is one of Norway's most successful pop exports of the 2010s. She first gained national attention as a teenager on Norwegian Idol, which led to an early hit single and a songwriting deal with Sony ATV. From there she developed into both a performer and a credited co-writer on her own material, a rare combination that shaped the confident, personal tone of her catalogue.
