Asake

Asake, born Ahmed Ololade on January 13, 1995, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, songwriter and performer signed to Olamide's YBNL Nation label. He studied Theatre and Performing Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, where his background in dance and drumming shaped a stage presence and vocal style built on rhythmic, chant-like melodies layered over Afrobeats, amapiano and street-pop influences. His stage name comes from a childhood nickname given by his mother, a schoolteacher.

After releasing early singles including «Lady» and the breakout hit «Mr. Money», Asake's momentum accelerated with his 2022 debut EP, Ololade Asake, featuring standout tracks like «Omo Ope» and «Sungba», the latter later reworked as «Sungba (Remix)» alongside Burna Boy. His full-length debut, Mr. Money with the Vibe, cemented his reputation as one of the most distinctive new voices in Afrobeats, built around call-and-response hooks, thick low end and communal, anthem-like energy.

Songs such as «Lonely At The Top», «Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)», «2:30», «MMS», «Terminator», «Wave» and «Basquiat» further showcase his knack for blending Yoruba-language storytelling with contagious, festival-ready production. Asake has become known for high-energy live performances and for pushing Afrobeats toward a rawer, percussion-driven sound distinct from more polished pop-leaning peers.
