ANOHNI

Anohni is a singer, composer and visual artist whose work spans experimental art song, chamber pop and electronic dance music. She rose to prominence as the frontperson of Antony and the Johnsons, the ensemble behind acclaimed albums such as I Am a Bird Now, before stepping into a solo path under the name Anohni, which she formally adopted as her public moniker in 2015 after using it privately for years.

Her voice — a distinctive, quivering countertenor-adjacent instrument full of vulnerability and grandeur — has made her a sought-after collaborator across genres, appearing on records and stages with Björk, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Boy George, Current 93, CocoRosie and Hercules and Love Affair, whose single «Blind» became one of the defining vocal performances of 2000s dance music. The shift to the Anohni identity coincided with a sonic and thematic turn toward explicitly political songwriting.
