Amy Grant is an American singer and songwriter widely regarded as one of the founders and most influential figures of contemporary Christian music. Raised in the Church of Christ, she began recording as a teenager and quickly became a dominant force on the Christian charts before crossing over into mainstream pop success in the late 1980s and early 1990s, most notably with hits like «Baby Baby». Her landmark 1982 album Age to Age was the first Contemporary Christian Music album to be certified gold and later platinum, cementing her status as the genre’s first true superstar.
