Aly & AJ

Aly & AJ are an American pop duo formed by sisters Alyson (Aly) and Amanda Joy (AJ) Michalka. They rose to fame in the mid-2000s partly thanks to exposure on the Disney Channel, which helped introduce their music to a young, wide audience. After signing to Hollywood Records, they released their debut album «Into the Rush» in 2005, followed by the holiday record «Acoustic Hearts of Winter» in 2006 and the pop-rock album «Insomniatic» in 2007.

«Insomniatic» produced some of the duo's signature songs, including «Potential Breakup Song» and «Like Whoa», which became defining hits of their early career and showcased their knack for hooky, guitar-driven pop with a country-tinged edge. Around 2009 the sisters briefly performed under the name 78violet before eventually returning to their original moniker.

In 2017, exactly ten years after «Insomniatic», Aly & AJ made a celebrated comeback with the EP «Ten Years», embracing a more mature, synth-leaning pop-rock sound. Since then they have continued releasing music independently, including the album «Sisters», building on their reputation as one of the more enduring sister acts to emerge from the 2000s teen-pop era.
