Alphaville

Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in 1982 in Münster, West Germany. The original lineup was built around vocalist Marian Gold, who has remained the band's only constant member through numerous lineup changes over the following decades.

The band rose to international fame with their 1984 debut single «Big in Japan» and especially «Forever Young», a song that became a defining anthem of 1980s synth-pop and has endured as one of the most covered and referenced tracks of the era. Their sound combined lush analog synthesizers, atmospheric production and Gold's distinctive, emotive vocals, placing them alongside acts that defined the New Wave and synth-pop movement of the early-to-mid 1980s.

Beyond their breakthrough debut album, Forever Young, Alphaville continued releasing music through the following decades, including albums like Afternoons in Utopia and The Breathtaking Blue, maintaining a devoted following in Germany and internationally while «Forever Young» itself remained a cultural touchstone across generations.
