Alpha Blondy

Alpha Blondy, born Seydou Koné, is an Ivorian reggae musician widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential reggae artists and a pioneer who helped establish the genre on the continent alongside acts like Lucky Dube. Performing with his long-running backing band Solar System, he built a sound that fuses Jamaican reggae rhythms with West African instrumentation and melodic sensibilities, often layering in Mandingo and other regional musical traditions.

Blondy sings in a striking mix of languages — French, English, Dioula, Arabic, and Hebrew — reflecting his commitment to pan-African and interfaith messages of unity.
