Альянс (Alliance) (RUS)

Альянс (Alliance) is a Soviet and later Russian rock band that emerged from the Sverdlovsk rock scene of the 1980s, the same fertile underground movement that produced acts like Nautilus Pompilius and Chaif in what is now Yekaterinburg. The band built its reputation on melodic, synth-inflected rock that balanced new-wave production with introspective, poetic lyrics typical of late-Soviet rock songwriting.

Their best-known song, «На заре (At Dawn)», released in the mid-1980s, became one of the defining anthems of Soviet rock and later resurfaced repeatedly in Russian pop culture, including through sampling and covers, introducing the track to generations far removed from its original release. Other songs such as «Возле твоей любви (Near your love)» and the «Тува» series show the band's range across atmospheric, mid-tempo rock arrangements.

As part of the broader Sverdlovsk rock club movement, Альянс represents a distinct strand of Soviet-era rock that leaned toward accessible, radio-friendly melodicism rather than the harsher punk or bard-rock traditions of some of their contemporaries, giving them a lasting place in the canon of Russian rock from that period.
