Alka Yagnik

Alka Yagnik is one of the most celebrated playback singers in Indian cinema, active in the Hindi film industry (Bollywood) since the 1980s. Born in Kolkata, she began singing professionally as a child and rose to prominence through the 1990s, becoming one of the defining female voices of Hindi film music alongside composers such as Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin-Lalit and Anu Malik. Her voice is instantly recognizable for its warmth, clarity and emotional range, equally suited to romantic ballads and upbeat dance numbers.

Yagnik's catalogue spans decades of Bollywood soundtracks, including songs from «Kuch Kuch Hota Hai», «Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna» and «Taal», as well as the widely loved «Ek Din Aap» and «Aapke Pyaar Mein». Her rendition of «Agar Tum Saath Ho» from «Tamasha», performed alongside Arijit Singh, introduced her artistry to a new generation of listeners.
