About the artist
Alizée is a French singer and dancer born on 21 August 1984 in Ajaccio, Corsica. She rose to fame as a teenager after appearing on the televised talent show «Graines de star», where she caught the attention of singer Mylène Farmer and her longtime collaborator Laurent Boutonnat. The pair wrote and produced Alizée’s early work, giving it their signature blend of theatrical pop, subtle innuendo, and cinematic arrangements.
Her debut single, «Moi… Lolita», released in 2000, became a defining hit of French pop in the early 2000s and found success across Europe and Asia, establishing Alizée as one of the most recognizable French vocalists of her generation. The Farmer-Boutonnat partnership continued to shape her first two albums, marked by double-entendre lyrics and a distinctive aesthetic that set her apart from typical teen-pop acts of the era.
Beyond her recording career, Alizée trained as a dancer, which informed her stage presence and choreography-driven performances. Her music blends pop with electronic and occasional rock textures, and she has remained a notable figure in French-language pop both domestically and internationally, with «Moi… Lolita» in particular becoming an enduring cultural touchstone.
