About the artist

Alexander Rybak is a Belarusian-Norwegian singer-songwriter, violinist, and pianist, born on May 13, 1986, in Minsk, in what was then the Byelorussian SSR, and raised in Norway from early childhood. He is best known for winning the 54th Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 with «Fairytale», a victory that set a then-record points total and became one of the most celebrated wins in the contest's history, topping charts across Europe and Australia.

Beyond his Eurovision fame, Rybak has built a lasting career in Norway across five studio albums, combining pop songwriting with folk and classical violin influences drawn from his conservatory training. He returned to represent Norway a second time at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with «That's How You Write a Song».

His work has also crossed into film, notably with «Into a Fantasy», written for the «How to Train Your Dragon 2» soundtrack. Rybak's blend of virtuosic violin performance, warm pop melodies, and storytelling lyrics has made him one of Norway's most enduring and internationally recognized musical exports.
