After being dropped by a major label as a teenager, he built his audience from the ground up, famously performing in parking lots outside concerts by Shawn Mendes and Troye Sivan to hand out demos. That grassroots persistence, paired with a prolific YouTube presence, eventually connected him with producer and artist Jon Bellion, who gave him an early songwriting credit and brought him on tour.
