Agua Marina

Agua Marina is a Peruvian cumbia group formed in Chiclayo, part of the wave of northern Peruvian cumbia acts that brought the genre to national prominence from the 1980s onward. The band is closely associated with the Chiclayo cumbia scene alongside groups such as Grupo 5, and it built its following through a family-run lineup and a steady stream of romantic and dance-floor cumbia singles performed across Peru.

Musically, Agua Marina represents the classic Peruvian tropical cumbia sound: keyboard-driven melodies, prominent guitar lines, and vocal harmonies set over a danceable cumbia rhythm section, often addressing themes of love, heartbreak, and celebration. Songs such as «Trilogía de la Cumbia», «Paloma Ajena», and «El Casorio» became staples of their live shows and radio rotation.

Over the decades the group has remained a fixture of Peru's tropical music circuit, performing at festivals and popular celebrations and maintaining a loyal fanbase built on its recognizable, romantic cumbia style. Their catalog spans many albums, with tracks like «Pasitos Para Bailar» and «Así Es el Amor» reflecting the group's enduring formula of catchy, danceable compositions.
