Afric Simone is a singer best remembered for the 1975 novelty hit «Hafanana», a joyful, percussion-driven Euro-disco track that became a chart success across Europe and beyond and remains his signature song to this day. Presenting himself with an African-inspired persona, he fit into the mid-1970s wave of exotica-tinged pop and disco acts that blended dance rhythms with playful, chant-like vocal hooks.

Following the success of «Hafanana», Simone released further singles such as «Ramaya» and «Playa Blanca», continuing in a similar upbeat, dance-pop vein aimed at the European singles market of the era.
