About the artist
Adel Tawil is a German singer and songwriter who rose to prominence in the 1990s as a member of the English-language boy band The Boyz, best known for their hit «One Minute». He later teamed up with veteran songwriter and producer Annette Humpe, formerly of Ideal and DÖF, to form the pop duo Ich & Ich, which became one of the most successful acts in German-language pop during the 2000s with a string of chart hits.
Beyond his work as a duo, Tawil became a sought-after guest vocalist, lending his voice to major German hip-hop and R&B tracks such as «Ich glaub an dich» with Azad, «Stadt» with Cassandra Steen, and «Der Himmel soll warten» with Sido. After 2010, as Humpe increasingly avoided live performance due to stage fright, Tawil began stepping into the spotlight alone and eventually put Ich & Ich on hold to launch a solo career.
As a solo artist Tawil is known for deeply personal, often confessional songwriting delivered over polished pop, rock, and occasional rap-inflected production. Songs like «Lieder», «Aschenflug», and «Ist da jemand» established him as one of the leading voices in contemporary German-language Schlager-pop, balancing emotional vulnerability with widescreen, radio-friendly arrangements.
