About the artist
Adam Jensen, born Adam Joseph Jensen, is an American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Boston, Massachusetts, whose path to music ran through a turbulent early adulthood marked by run-ins with the law before he turned fully toward songwriting. Inspired by The Beatles and Billy Joel, he began piano lessons at age eight, and after watching Kurt Cobain on MTV at twelve he picked up guitar, playing open mics across New England as a teenager.
After leaving college, he drifted into a troubled period involving petty crime that led to multiple arrests, before deciding to pursue music seriously and moving to Los Angeles to record. In 2009, he and Alex Knutsen formed the band Mission Hill, signed to Toucan Cove, a label under Universal Music, releasing two albums together before Jensen moved into a solo career.
As a solo artist, Jensen built a style that mixes pop songcraft with alternative rock and electronic textures, often pairing upbeat, melodic production with dark, confessional lyrics drawn from his own past. Songs such as «The Mystic», «Sandcastles», «Marijuana Breath» and «The Hunter» reflect this contrast between sound and subject matter, while a cover of «Friend of the Devil» shows his range beyond his own original material.
