About the artist
Acda en de Munnik was a Dutch musical and cabaret duo formed by Thomas Acda and Paul de Munnik. They broke through in 1995 with their theatrical stage show, blending stand-up comedy, storytelling and song into a format popular in Dutch cabaret tradition. Their debut studio album followed in 1997, establishing a sound built on gentle, mostly acoustic pop-rock arrangements that stayed deliberately understated so listeners would focus on the lyrics.
Their songwriting centered on everyday themes: love, friendship, growing older and the small dramas of ordinary life, delivered with warmth, wit and a distinctly Dutch sensibility. Songs such as «Het regent zonnestralen», «Niet of nooit geweest» and «De Stad Amsterdam» became widely known in the Netherlands and Flanders, and the duo regularly combined touring theater shows with studio albums throughout their career.
Acda en de Munnik announced their split in 2014 and closed the chapter with a farewell tour in 2015, after two decades as one of the most recognizable duos in Dutch-language popular music. Both members went on to pursue separate creative projects, but the duo's catalogue remains a staple of Dutch pop and cabaret.
