Aca Lukas

Aca Lukas, born Aleksandar Vuksanović on November 3, 1968, in Belgrade, is one of the most prominent figures in Serbian pop-folk music. He took his stage name from a raft-club called Lukas on New Belgrade's Ada Ciganlija, where he began performing in the early 1990s. He rose to prominence at the Belgrade club Hogar, where he replaced singer Milo Lojpur and, together with musicians Milan Šćepović and Saša Lunginović, performed jazz and Roma-influenced songs, which he later arranged in his own distinctive style.

After his club years and a stint performing with the group Viktorija, Lukas launched a solo career, scoring his first hit with «Kuda idu ljudi kao ja». He followed with a string of hits including «Ja živim sam», «Pesma od bola», «Lična karta», «Soba za plakanje», «Kafana na Balkanu», and «Rođendan», cementing his status as one of the genre's leading voices. He took a career break between 2004 and 2006, and in 2008 won first place at the «II Axal Grand» festival with the song «Upali svetlo».

A hallmark of Lukas's sound is his blend of traditional Balkan and Roma-inflected melody with modern pop-folk production, delivered in a distinctive, emotionally charged vocal style. His birthday concert at the Belgrade Arena drew a crowd of around 20,000, reflecting his enduring popularity across the region.
