About the artist
Absofacto is the solo recording project of American songwriter and producer Jonathan Visger, who began self-releasing singles from his own website in the late 2000s. Working largely independently, he built a devoted following through a steady stream of self-produced tracks before compiling early material into the album Sinking Islands in 2011.
His sound blends indie pop, electronic textures, and rock songwriting, often marked by layered vocals, glitchy production details, and an introspective, melancholic lyrical tone. His breakthrough came with «Dissolve», a hazy, atmospheric track that found a huge second life on streaming platforms and social media years after its original release, introducing his music to a much wider international audience.
Beyond «Dissolve», songs like «Someone Else's Dream», «Two Wrongs», and «Light Outside» showcase his knack for combining emotionally direct songwriting with polished bedroom-pop production. He has also collaborated with other electronic-leaning artists, including a featured vocal appearance on The Knocks' «Trouble», and released the «Thousand Peaces» EP as part of his ongoing solo output.
