Waylon Jennings foi um cantor, compositor e guitarrista country americano, amplamente considerado uma das figuras fundadoras do movimento outlaw country dos anos 1970, uma rebelião contra o som polido e carregado de cordas de Nashville da época. Ao lado de Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash e Kris Kristofferson, formou o supergrupo The Highwaymen, e seu casamento e parceria musical com Jessi Colter os tornaram uma das duplas icônicas do country. Seu estilo de guitarra cru, guiado pelo baixo, e seu barítono rouco se tornaram um som característico que influenciou gerações de artistas de country e rock.
