Swans é uma banda norte-americana de rock experimental formada em Nova York em 1982, liderada ao longo de toda a sua história pelo vocalista, guitarrista e principal compositor Michael Gira. Surgida do underground no-wave e industrial da cidade, a banda construiu logo uma reputação por seu volume castigante e ruído abrasivo, com seus primeiros álbuns, incluindo «Filth», buscando entregar um dos sons mais ásperos imagináveis em apresentações ao vivo.
Nas décadas seguintes, o Swans se reinventou repetidamente, passando da intensidade com tons góticos de «Children of God» para um território mais melódico e atmosférico em álbuns como «White Light from the Mouth of Infinity», culminando nas vastas paisagens sonoras de post-rock e loops de fita de «Soundtracks for the Blind», amplamente considerado seu ápice criativo. A banda se dissolveu por um período antes de Gira reviver o projeto, levando a um celebrado renascimento nos anos 2010 com composições densas, hipnóticas e de duração épica.
