Pete Seeger (3 de maio de 1919 – 27 de janeiro de 2014) foi um cantor folk, banjoísta e ativista americano nascido em Nova York numa família de músicos; seu pai, Charles Seeger, foi um renomado musicólogo. Protegido de Woody Guthrie, Seeger tornou-se uma das figuras centrais da música folk americana, tocando violão de 12 cordas e um banjo de cinco cordas com braço alongado de seu próprio design, cultivando um estilo caloroso e participativo baseado em cantorias em conjunto com o público.
Seeger fundou os Almanac Singers em 1940 e mais tarde se juntou aos The Weavers em 1949, alcançando grande popularidade antes de o grupo ser incluído em listas negras durante o macarthismo anticomunista dos anos 1950, após serem convocados perante o Congresso. Ele reconstruiu a carreira nos anos 1960 como artista solo e compositor, ligando-se estreitamente ao Movimento dos Direitos Civis, ao movimento pacifista e a causas ambientais, popularizando canções como «We Shall Overcome», «If I Had a Hammer», «Where Have All the Flowers Gone?», «Guantanamera» e «Which Side Are You On?».
A influência de Seeger se estendeu tanto pelo folk quanto pela música popular, inspirando gerações de cantores-compositores com sua combinação de canções de protesto, música infantil e material tradicional. Permaneceu ativo como intérprete e ativista até os noventa e poucos anos, defendendo a justiça social e a preservação ambiental, notadamente a limpeza do rio Hudson, até sua morte em 2014.
