Judas Priest é uma banda britânica de heavy metal formada em Birmingham, na Inglaterra, em 1969, amplamente considerada uma das pioneiras mais influentes do gênero. Com a voz operística e de amplo alcance de Rob Halford e o ataque de guitarras duplas desenvolvido por K.K. Downing e Glenn Tipton, a banda ajudou a definir o som e a estética visual do heavy metal, popularizando o visual de couro e tachas que se tornou marca registrada do gênero nos anos 1980.
Após um período formativo nos anos 1970, marcado por mudanças de formação e produções irregulares, o sucesso comercial veio com o álbum British Steel, de 1980, que simplificou o som da banda e gerou hinos duradouros como «Breaking the Law» e «Living After Midnight». Seguiram-se outros lançamentos marcantes do gênero, incluindo «You've Got Another Thing Comin'» e o posterior «Painkiller», de influência thrash, que revelou uma direção mais pesada e veloz.
Como parte da new wave of British heavy metal, o Judas Priest fez a ponte entre o hard rock dos anos 1970 e os estilos mais extremos que vieram depois, influenciando incontáveis bandas do thrash, power metal e metal tradicional.
