Sobre el artista
Judas Priest es una banda británica de heavy metal formada en Birmingham, Inglaterra, en 1969, considerada una de las pioneras más influyentes del género. Con la voz operística y de amplio registro de Rob Halford y el ataque de doble guitarra desarrollado por K.K. Downing y Glenn Tipton, la banda ayudó a definir el sonido y la estética visual del heavy metal, popularizando el look de cuero y tachuelas que se convirtió en un sello del género durante los años ochenta.
Tras una etapa formativa en los años setenta marcada por cambios de formación y producciones irregulares, llegó el gran éxito comercial con el álbum British Steel de 1980, que simplificó su sonido y produjo himnos duraderos como «Breaking the Law» y «Living After Midnight». Le siguieron otros lanzamientos definitorios del género, entre ellos «You've Got Another Thing Comin'» y el posterior «Painkiller», de influencia thrash, que mostró una dirección más pesada y veloz.
Como parte de la nueva ola del heavy metal británico, Judas Priest tendió un puente entre el hard rock de los setenta y los estilos más extremos que vinieron después, influyendo en incontables bandas del thrash, el power metal y el metal tradicional. Temas como «Electric Eye», «Victim of Changes» y «Beyond the Realms of Death» siguen siendo referencias de su catálogo por sus interpretaciones vocales dramáticas y arreglos de guitarra intrincados.
