Prince, nacido Prince Rogers Nelson el 7 de junio de 1958 en Minneapolis, Minnesota, fue un cantautor, multiinstrumentista y productor estadounidense considerado uno de los músicos más innovadores y prolíficos de su época. Una infancia marcada por convulsiones epilépticas y una vida familiar difícil lo acercó pronto a la música, y ya en su adolescencia escribía canciones y perfeccionaba la guitarra, los teclados y sus habilidades de producción, que le permitirían tocar casi todos los instrumentos en sus propias grabaciones.
