Sobre el artista
Porcupine Tree es una banda de rock inglesa formada en 1987 por Steven Wilson, quien inicialmente la concibió como un proyecto solista antes de armar una banda completa con Richard Barbieri en los teclados, Colin Edwin en el bajo y, más tarde, Gavin Harrison en la batería. El trabajo temprano de la banda se apoyó fuertemente en el rock psicodélico y progresivo, generando comparaciones frecuentes con Pink Floyd, antes de evolucionar hacia el rock alternativo y finalmente el metal progresivo.
Álbumes como «In Absentia», «Deadwing» y «Fear of a Blank Planet» mostraron la capacidad de la banda para fusionar composiciones atmosféricas y melódicas con arreglos más pesados y agresivos, consolidando su estatus como un acto clave del rock progresivo moderno. La meticulosa producción de Wilson y el virtuosismo de la banda, especialmente la intrincada batería de Harrison, se convirtieron en rasgos definitorios de su sonido.
Tras su décimo álbum, «The Incident», la banda entró en un extenso paréntesis mientras sus integrantes se dedicaban a proyectos solistas, con Wilson construyendo una notable carrera en solitario. Porcupine Tree eventualmente se reunió, y sigue siendo considerada una de las bandas de rock progresivo más influyentes de su era.
