Sobre el artista
Bright Eyes es un proyecto de indie rock estadounidense centrado en el cantautor Conor Oberst, quien comenzó a publicar música siendo adolescente en Omaha, Nebraska, a mediados de los años noventa. Con el tiempo, el proyecto evolucionó de una propuesta solista lo-fi a una banda completa, con el multiinstrumentista y productor Mike Mogis y el trompetista y tecladista Nate Walcott, junto a numerosos colaboradores vinculados a la escena del sello Saddle Creek Records de Omaha.
Bright Eyes se convirtió en uno de los actos definitorios del indie de principios de los 2000, conocido por las letras confesionales y literarias de Oberst y un sonido que se mueve con fluidez entre el folk acústico frágil, texturas electrónicas y arreglos de banda completa. Canciones como «Lua», «First Day of My Life» y «At the Bottom of Everything» muestran ese rango, combinando una entrega vocal íntima con arreglos que pueden volverse orquestales o ruidosos según el ánimo del disco.
El catálogo de la banda, con temas como «Poison Oak» y «Land Locked Blues», ayudó a definir a toda una generación de rock de cantautor emocionalmente directo y consolidó la reputación de Oberst como uno de los letristas más prolíficos e influyentes de su época.
