Vulfpeck

Vulfpeck is an American funk band formed in 2011 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, by students at the University of Michigan. The core lineup consists of Jack Stratton, Joe Dart, Woody Goss, and Theo Katzman, and the group is known for a stripped-back, groove-driven sound built on tight rhythm-section interplay rather than studio polish. Their approach favors live-in-the-room takes with minimal overdubbing, drawing heavily on classic soul, funk, and R&B traditions.

The band built a devoted following through inventive stunts as much as through its music, most famously releasing the near-silent album «Sleepify» in 2014 and asking fans to stream it while sleeping to fund a free tour. Bassist Joe Dart has become particularly celebrated within the band for his fluid, melodic playing style, which has made him one of the most recognized bass players of his generation among musicians.

Vulfpeck frequently collaborates with an extended circle of musicians including guitarist Cory Wong, singer Antwaun Stanley, and keyboardist and vocalist Joey Dosik, and has also worked with veteran R&B and funk players such as Bootsy Collins. The band is known for energetic live shows, including sold-out performances at Madison Square Garden, and for cultivating a strong DIY, community-driven relationship with its audience outside the traditional music industry system.
