The Tokens

The Tokens are an American vocal group from Brooklyn, New York, working in the doo-wop tradition, best known for their chart-topping 1961 single «The Lion Sleeps Tonight», an adaptation of the South African song «Mbube» that became one of the most enduring and widely covered pop recordings of its era.
