About the artist
The Prodigy are an English electronic band formed in Essex in the early 1990s by producer and multi-instrumentalist Liam Howlett, joined by dancers and vocalists Keith Flint and Keith «Maxim» Palmer, along with dancer Leeroy Thornhill in the group's early years. Emerging from the UK rave scene, they became one of the most influential acts in bringing electronic and breakbeat music into the mainstream, fusing rave, big beat, punk energy and aggressive rap-inflected vocals.
Howlett's productions, built on breakbeats, distorted synths and industrial-strength basslines, gave the group a raw, confrontational sound that set them apart from their dance-scene peers. Breakthrough hits like «Out of Space» and «Poison» established their reputation in the early 90s, while «Firestarter» and «Breathe» — both driven by Keith Flint's snarling, punk-inspired vocal delivery and wild stage presence — turned them into global stars and pushed electronic music firmly into rock territory. The controversial «Smack My Bitch Up» and the later «Omen» further cemented their reputation for confrontational, boundary-pushing releases.
The Prodigy's live shows, anchored by Flint's ferocious performances and Maxim's commanding presence, became legendary for their intensity. Following Flint's death in 2019, Howlett and Maxim have continued to honor his legacy, ensuring the band's pioneering fusion of electronic music and punk attitude endures.
