The Chemical Brothers

The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons in Manchester in the early 1990s, later based in London. Despite the name, they are not related. They emerged from the UK rave and indie-dance scene and became key architects of big beat, a genre blending breakbeats, heavy basslines, samples and psychedelic rock textures into a sound built for both clubs and festival main stages.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s the duo scored a string of UK chart hits and multiple number one albums, helping push electronic dance music into the mainstream alongside acts like The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim. Tracks such as «Hey Boy Hey Girl», «Galvanize» and «Let Forever Be» showcased their knack for anthemic, sample-heavy productions, while collaborations with vocalists including Noel Gallagher, Beth Orton and Q-Tip broadened their reach beyond pure instrumental dance music.
