Tank

Tank, born Durrell Artaze Babbs, is an American R&B singer and songwriter known for his powerful, gospel-rooted vocals and emotionally charged slow jams. He began his career as a background vocalist and songwriter for Ginuwine before signing his own deal and releasing his debut album in 2001, which produced the hit «Maybe I Deserve». He quickly established himself as one of the defining voices of 2000s R&B with singles like «When We» and «Please Don’t Go».

Beyond his solo work, Tank has built a substantial career as a writer and producer, crafting songs for artists such as Aaliyah, Jamie Foxx, Kelly Rowland and Alicia Keys. His ability to shape hits for other performers cemented his reputation as one of the genre’s most versatile behind-the-scenes talents, alongside his own catalog of romantic, vocally driven records.

In the 2010s Tank joined forces with Tyrese and Ginuwine to form the R&B supergroup TGT, further reinforcing his standing as a torchbearer for traditional, vocal-centered R&B in an era increasingly shaped by hip-hop and electronic production.
