Surfaces

Surfaces is a Texas-based duo formed in 2017 by Forrest Frank (performing as Forrest.) and Colin Padalecki, known for warm, feel-good pop that draws on ‘70s R&B, soul, and light electronic and hip-hop textures. Padalecki began producing tracks while attending Texas A&M University, posting music online where it caught the attention of Forrest., and the two began collaborating remotely before formalizing the duo.

Their 2017 debut album, Surf, introduced their breezy, optimistic sound and included «Be Alright», which slowly built a devoted online fanbase and helped the duo transition into touring artists. Their profile rose considerably with 2019's Where the Light Is, anchored by «Sunday Best», a summery, hook-driven single that became one of the defining feel-good pop songs of its era and crossed over widely on streaming platforms.

Surfaces continued expanding their sound on 2020's Horizons, further blending pop songwriting with retro-tinged production. Across their catalog, the duo has built a reputation for uplifting, sun-soaked melodies and lyrics centered on gratitude, simplicity, and everyday joy, distinguishing them within a pop landscape often defined by more anxious or ironic tones.
