Skrillex

Skrillex, born Sonny John Moore on January 15, 1988 in Los Angeles, California, is one of the most influential producers to emerge from the American electronic dance music scene. Before turning to production he was the frontman of the post-hardcore band From First to Last, an experience that left a lasting mark on the aggressive, distorted textures that later defined his sound. Around 2008 he began performing as Skrillex, and within a few years his jagged, bass-heavy take on dubstep helped push the genre into the mainstream.

His breakthrough releases, including the EP «Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites» and tracks like «Bangarang», established a signature style built on wobbling bass drops, glitchy sound design and abrupt tempo shifts, earning him multiple Grammy Awards and making him a defining voice of brostep. He later broadened his palette, exploring trap, moombahton and pop-leaning collaborations, working with artists such as Justin Bieber, A$AP Rocky, Diplo, Ellie Goulding and Rihanna, and co-founding the duo Jack Ü with Diplo, whose single «Where Are Ü Now» with Justin Bieber became a global hit.

Beyond his own catalog, Skrillex has been a key producer and remixer for major pop and hip-hop artists, and his OWSLA label helped launch other electronic acts. Decades into his career he remains a central figure connecting underground dance music culture with mainstream pop production.
