Sampha

Sampha Sisay, known mononymously as Sampha, is a British singer-songwriter and producer from South London. He emerged in the early 2010s through work with electronic producer SBTRKT and quickly became one of the most sought-after collaborators in contemporary R&B and hip-hop, lending his aching, soulful voice and piano-based songwriting to artists including Drake, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar and Solange Knowles.

Before his solo breakthrough he released two EPs, Sundanza and Dual, developing a sound built around intimate piano playing, glitchy electronic textures and deeply personal lyricism. His debut album, Process (2017), released on Young Turks, was written largely in the wake of his mother's death and won the Mercury Prize, establishing him as a major solo artist in his own right rather than simply a guest vocalist.

Sampha's music sits at the intersection of R&B, electronic and experimental pop, marked by fragile, emotionally direct vocals over minimalist, often piano-led production. He remains a distinctive voice in British alternative R&B, continuing to balance acclaimed solo work with high-profile collaborations.
