Mýa

Mýa, full name Mýa Marie Harrison, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and actress who emerged as one of the defining voices of late-1990s and early-2000s R&B. She signed with Interscope-affiliated University Records and released her self-titled debut album in 1998, which produced the top-ten hit «It's All About Me» and established her as a rising star alongside a generation of R&B artists blending smooth vocals with hip-hop-inflected production.

Her breakthrough came with 2000's Fear of Flying, propelled by the massive hit single «Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)», which became one of her signature songs and a defining track of the era's R&B sound. She also found major crossover success with the collaborative single «Lady Marmalade» alongside Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Pink for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, further cementing her mainstream visibility. Her third album, Moodring (2003), pushed into more eclectic territory, incorporating techno, pop-rock, and soul influences.

Over a career spanning multiple labels, including a period recording in Japan for Manhattan Records, Mýa continued releasing albums independently, including K.I.S.S.: Keep It Sexy & Simple and Smoove Jones, the latter earning a Grammy nomination.
