Moses Sumney

Moses Sumney is a Ghanaian-American singer, songwriter and producer known for a genre-defying sound that draws on soul, jazz, folk, R&B and experimental electronic textures. Raised partly in California and partly in Ghana, he emerged in the mid-2010s with a striking falsetto voice and richly layered, often self-produced arrangements that set him apart from conventional R&B and pop songwriting.

His debut album, «Aromanticism», released in 2017, explored themes of solitude and detachment from romantic love, earning widespread critical acclaim for its ethereal, genre-blending production. He followed it with the ambitious double album «Græ» in 2020, further pushing into art-pop and avant-garde territory, and has continued to release exploratory work such as the EP «Blackalachia» and later material including «Plastic» and «Doomed». Sumney has performed and collaborated alongside artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Solange and James Blake, reflecting his standing among a generation of boundary-pushing artists in contemporary soul and alternative R&B.
