Miguel

Miguel Jontel Pimentel, known professionally as Miguel, is an American singer, songwriter and producer known for a genre-blending style that draws on R&B, funk, rock and psychedelic textures. Raised in San Pedro, California, with Mexican-American and African-American roots, he brings a distinctly Californian, sensual sound to his music, often folding in Spanish-language flourishes as a nod to his heritage.

After a slow-burning start with his 2010 debut All I Want Is You, Miguel broke through with Kaleidoscope Dream in 2012, an album praised for reviving a lush, guitar-inflected strain of alternative R&B, anchored by the hit «Adorn». He followed it with Wildheart and War & Leisure, both of which continued to push his sound toward rock-leaning grooves and unfiltered romantic and sexual themes, establishing him as one of the more adventurous voices in contemporary R&B.

Miguel has also stepped outside his own catalogue for notable collaborations, including a Spanish-language rendition of «Remember Me» from Pixar's Coco alongside Natalia Lafourcade.
