Masego

Masego, born Micah Davis on June 8, 1993, is an American singer and saxophonist raised partly in Kingston, Jamaica, whose stage name means «blessings» in Tswana. He grew up performing in his local church band, which shaped the gospel-inflected musicality behind his later work, and coined the term «TrapHouseJazz» to describe his fusion of jazz instrumentation with trap-influenced rhythms and R&B songwriting.

He first gained wider attention through his partnership with producer Medasin, releasing the collaborative «The Pink Polo» EP in 2016, which built a strong following online before he broke through with the saxophone-driven single «Tadow», recorded with FKJ. His sound blends live saxophone playing with smooth vocals, laid-back grooves, and playful, conversational lyricism, drawing on jazz, soul, and contemporary R&B.

Masego has continued to build out the TrapHouseJazz collective as a home for like-minded musicians, while releasing his own tracks such as «Navajo», «Old Age», and «Queen Tings». His genre-blurring approach and instrumental skill have made him one of the more distinctive voices bridging jazz musicianship with modern R&B and hip-hop sensibilities.
