mansionz

mansionz is an American musical duo formed by singer-songwriters Mike Posner and blackbear, who had been friends and collaborators since around 2012, notably co-writing Justin Bieber's hit «Boyfriend» together before joining forces as an act in their own right. Their sound blends alternative R&B, hip-hop and pop, characterized by loose, confessional lyrics, playful irreverence and genre-blurring production that reflects both members' backgrounds as hitmaking songwriters for other artists.

The duo debuted with the single «STFU» in December 2016, followed by their self-titled debut album in March 2017 (originally conceived as Greatest Hitz), recorded largely during an intensive writing retreat and featuring guest appearances from G-Eazy, Spark Master Tape, Soren Bryce and even NBA icon Dennis Rodman, who became something of a mascot and namesake for the project — the pair famously sported his signature lime-green hair while promoting the record.

After years apart pursuing solo careers, Posner and blackbear reunited for mansionz 2, released in late 2023, revisiting their loose, collaborative chemistry with the same irreverent energy that defined their debut. Across both records, mansionz stands out for treating the side-project format as a genuine creative outlet rather than a marketing exercise, letting two established pop songwriters indulge their rawer, more experimental instincts.
