Lloyd, born Lloyd Polite Jr., is an American R&B singer from New Orleans, Louisiana, who rose to prominence in the mid-2000s after signing to Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. label and releasing his debut album Southside. He built his career on smooth, melodic vocals set against hip-hop-influenced production, positioning him within a wave of R&B artists blending traditional soul singing with rap-adjacent beats and guest verses.

Lloyd's biggest commercial breakthrough came with You, featuring fellow New Orleans artist Lil Wayne, which topped the US R&B chart and became a defining hit of his career. He followed with a string of collaborative singles pairing his vocals with prominent rappers, including Dedication to My Ex (Miss That) featuring André 3000, one of his most successful and widely recognized songs, as well as records with Yung Joc, Ludacris, and 2 Chainz.

Across several studio albums, Lloyd has remained a consistent presence in mainstream R&B, valued for pairing radio-friendly hooks with guest rap verses in a formula that helped define the genre's sound in the late 2000s and 2010s.
