Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie is an American singer, songwriter and producer born on June 20, 1949. He first rose to prominence as a member of the Commodores, the Motown group he joined in the late 1960s, writing and singing on some of their biggest ballads before launching a solo career in 1982.

His solo debut album included the number-one hit «Truly», and he went on to become one of the defining voices of adult-contemporary pop and R&B through the 1980s, with songs such as «Hello», «Endless Love» (a duet with Diana Ross), «All Night Long (All Night)», «Stuck On You» and «Say You, Say Me». His writing combined soul and country influences with pop songcraft, giving his ballads and up-tempo hits wide crossover appeal.

Richie is regarded as one of the best-selling artists in popular music history and remains a fixture of American music culture, later gaining renewed visibility as a television personality.
