Lauren Jauregui

Lauren Michelle Jauregui Morgado, born June 27, 1996 in Miami, Florida, is an American singer-songwriter of Cuban descent who first gained international recognition as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, formed on The X Factor in 2012 alongside Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane, and Normani. With Fifth Harmony, she was part of a group whose singles, including «Work From Home», became major pop hits, before the group went on indefinite hiatus in 2018.

As a solo artist, Jauregui has moved toward a more personal and eclectic sound spanning pop, R&B, rock and rap-inflected production, drawing on influences she has cited including Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse and Frank Ocean. Songs such as «Expectations», «More Than That» and her Spanish-language collaboration «Lento» reflect a bilingual, genre-fluid approach that distinguishes her from the more uniformly pop-oriented sound of her former group, incorporating socially and emotionally candid songwriting.
