Jorja Smith

Jorja Smith is an English singer-songwriter from Walsall, in the West Midlands, born to a Jamaican father and an English mother. Growing up on a mix of reggae, hip-hop and R&B, she cites artists like Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Sade as key influences, and her music carries that lineage forward with a soulful, understated vocal style set against minimal, atmospheric production drawing from R&B, soul and UK electronic music.

She first gained wider attention with «Blue Lights» in 2016, a song addressing racial profiling and police relations that she wrote and released while still working outside music.
