Jon B.

Jon B., born Jonathan Buck, is an American R&B singer, songwriter and producer who rose to prominence in the mid-1990s. He first made his mark behind the scenes, writing songs for artists including Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, and the Spice Girls, before launching his own recording career with the 1995 debut album Bonafide, which went platinum and featured «Someone to Love», a duet with Babyface that earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

His sound blends smooth, romantic R&B vocals with pop and hip-hop sensibilities, a hybrid that made him one of the few white artists of the era to achieve major crossover success within R&B. His 1997 album Cool Relax cemented that reputation, going double platinum on the strength of hits like «They Don't Know» and «Are U Still Down?», the latter featuring a posthumous verse from 2Pac. Tracks such as «Pretty Girl», «Calling On You», and «I Do (Whatcha Say Boo)» further showcased his knack for sensual, melodic songwriting.

After his gold-certified 2001 album Pleasures U Like and its single «Don't Talk» closed out his run with Epic Records, Jon B. continued recording independently, releasing Stronger Everyday, Helpless Romantic, and Comfortable Swagg in the years that followed, maintaining a steady presence in contemporary R&B.
